It’s funny, nowadays (Jesus Christ how old am I?) there are a lot of people out there saying hip hop is dead and that there are no real rappers out there. Ever since the likes of Future, Young Thug, etc. have gained popularity, a lot of hip-hop purists have gone a little crazy denouncing the way the artform has evolved and making some outlandish statements about the current state of hip hop. It seems to me, that these type of people are just not paying attention to the rappers that are worth paying attention to… Enter A-F-R-O (All Flows Reach Out)
The young MC, claims the ripe age of 18 years old, but don’t let the baby face fool you, A-F-R-O sounds like he could have been straight out of the 80’s and 90’s, and has the lyrical abilities of rappers far older than him. As a member of independent label Duckdown Records (if you don’t recognize that name please google it and recognize the hip hop royalty that has been affiliated with them) he has been making waves all over the internet. His freestyling skills, which contributed highly to his rise to fame, are comparable to some of the best and his flows (as his name indicates) are incredibly intricate. His most recent EP “Afro Polo” created with producer Marco Polo, is a head-bobbing, hip hop head’s dream. With hard hitting beats, and A-F-R-O’s ability to make every bar count, this is a must-listen. At only 6-songs, we are left craving more, but seeing as A-F-R-O is just at the beginning of a surely long and successful career, I don’t think we have to worry about our man coming out with some more fire.
Oh and did I mention we met up with him last week at the Afro Polo release show? Because that happened. We got something in the works people, patience is a major key
